Streampasta

Watch there. Paste there.

On the same Wi-Fi, one computer can invite others to watch its screen, pointer included. They apply, and the host accepts or declines. Two computers can also pair, so a copy on one can be pasted on the other. Nothing is sent through a cloud account.

Windows is an installer for 64-bit PCs. Mac is a disk image for Apple silicon MacBooks: open it and drag Streampasta to Applications. Linux is an AppImage for 64-bit PCs: allow it to run, then open it. Screen sharing on Linux uses an X11 session. macOS will ask for screen recording and the local network.

Streaming

One computer invites people on this Wi-Fi to watch its screen. Others apply, and the host accepts or declines. Free mode includes 3 computers at once. More computers are coming soon.

  • People watching see the pointer move with the picture.
  • Pause blanks the picture and the sound. Resume brings them back.
  • On Windows, sound travels with the screen, and Mute sound turns it off.
  • Pick another screen when the host has more than one.
  • The host can write a short note. Watchers can read it, open the picture full screen, save a snapshot, and leave.
  • Quit streaming ends it. If a watcher drops for a moment, they rejoin unless they chose Leave session.

Clipboard

Two computers on the same Wi-Fi can pair. Both of you accept. After that, text, pictures, and files you copy on one computer arrive on the other.

  • Either of you can revoke or block, and that stays in place.
  • The list keeps the latest 100 copies. An image can be saved from there.
  • A file that is too large stays on your computer and is not sent.

Same Wi-Fi

The computers find each other on the local network. Only computers running Streampasta are shown.

You decide

A pair starts when both accept. A stream starts when the host accepts each watcher.

You can stop

Revoke a pair and the other side loses it too. Quit streaming and the picture ends for everyone watching.

On each PC

  1. Install Streampasta. On Windows, allow it on private networks if Firewall asks. On a Mac, allow screen recording and the local network. On Linux, open the AppImage. Screen sharing on Linux uses an X11 session.
  2. To share a screen, open Streaming. The host invites. The others apply. The host accepts.
  3. To share a copy, open Clipboard. Send a pair from one computer and accept it on the other. Copy as usual. The other PC can paste it.

Closing the window leaves Streampasta in the tray. Quit streaming ends the screen. Quit stops the app.
